(more…)
Today was my first day at Portiño as coordinator between the volunteers and the Office. It happpened because the former coordinator, Ana, began to study a master, so she left the group.
It’s no good. I’m the third coordinator since October. In fact, it’s only an symbolic job. But it’s not a good signal that I’m the only veteran with stable rythm of work.
Only Belén (my host neighbourgh) and me went with children today. In the golden years of the group we were six to eight volunteers every session. Because our conditions, we move in two groups with random, low number of volunteers. After half hour in chaos, we desisted

Final 80’s. I was young. And highly stupid. I put tv, I saw “Jazz entre amigos”(Jazz among friends), the Juan Carlos “Cifu” Cifuentes’ great programme in TVE-2, and I changed the channel. I didn’t understand this music. (more…)
Once again, privative software, all-powerful enterprise made an absolute fool because a serious security bug. Last summer was Cisco, they sent employees to the DEF CON 13 to tear documentation about a bug in their routers OS. This week is Oracle. They put the blame against the security researcher that exposed in a Black Hat con details about a flaw that Oracle tried to fix with the latest patch but they couldn’t do it. Experts criticize Oracle’s attitude front this and every flaws when discovered.
“What David Litchfield has done is put our customers at risk.”, Oracle said.
The risk is not to uncover bugs. In fact, the real risk is not informing to the customers that pay & use their product.
When we were still congratulating to Google because its resistance to reveal personal data to US goverment, today we wake up with the bad new: Google will colaborate with China in the censorship through their services. No Blogger, no Gmail aren’t questionable actions (you can build services that Chinese goverment allows you, and it’s better no gmail than yes gmail an I betray you after). The serious questions is Google searchs will be censored.
As RSF’s representative Julien Pain said, bad news for freedom again.
Updated Jan. 27th: Amnesty International joins to the criticism against Google, and Yahoo and Microsoft too. AI press communicate in English and Spanish.
Decree signed by Cardinal Angelo Sodano that forces to pay royalties because publishing ecclesiastical documents is a serious mistake: the Catholic Church must spread Message of Christ with every means in its hand. Copyright is only necessary to preserve integrity of documents. If Catholics must pay to read it, the Church doesn’t put means, just an obstacle.
Pope documents, and Vatican documents in general belong to Church, so, like every state documents must be opened to every member. Vatican must copyright them under CC or GFDL -like licences. Those documents are current expressions of Message of Christ, so they must stay free.

I’ve just discovered reading OpenBSD Journal about the release of Anonym.OS. If you think in Necromantux as your pocket toolbox, Anonym.OS is your pocket privacy: strong cipher, onion routing network with FSF’s Tor in an OpenBSD live-CD based.
Good work, Kaos.theory team!
Updated Jan. 27th: An interesting report about the distro in Kriptopolis by JMG (in Spanish).
Maybe you think I’m an extremist, but free software is in my day-by-day decisions. Near 20 months ago I bought an Ericsson cell phone because they develope and free the Erlang functional language. It crashed yesterday, and, to replace it I bought this Nokia 6060. Why? Because Nokia’s approaches and helps to free software.
Hard stuff companies, you know, , if you want me (and my friends) buy your products, you must help the community
They were handcuffed, men, women and children, pushed up in buses without water nor food, and dissapeared into the desert. They dissapeared out press pages, finally they dissapeared out of our minds.
Inmigrants crashed against Spanish barriers, Morocco army treat them like thrash while Spanish Foreign Office chief Moratinos told us don’t worry, they’re all right. Pep Buades, Company of Jesus delegate for inmigration affairs in Spain, followed the caravans and now tell the truth to Nuria Navarro in El Periodico journal (via solidaridad.net).
Somebody has 14 corpses on their shoulders.
I read the sad new in El Mundo: I’ll never visit the Pilgrim Baptist Church, the gospel birthplace, because it fell down in fire last January,6th.
The building raised in Chicago in 1890, and in 1922 passed from jewish to baptist cult. Thomas A. Dorsey (not trombonist Tommy Dorsey) was the music director in the 30’s, teamed with Mahalia Jackson in the golden age of gospel until 1944.
Human buildings can dissapear, not spirituals.
As hours go by, the rumour seems to be real: MSN Spaces (Microsoft blogging service) has shut down journalist Zhao Jing aka Michael Anti’s blog. This is another brick in the tech wall that Chinese communist dictatorship builds to blind Chinese citizens to the outer world. But this censoring brick is manufactured and labeled at Redmond, USA, by the person-of-the-year of Time magazine.
Let’s tear down the wall!!!
Updated:Microsoft admitted to ZDNet they did it to be complaint with chinese laws (via slashdot)
I’ve just read Fernando Acero’s article in Kriptopolis about a new cryptography method based in thermal noise (Johnson noise) and Kirchoff laws. If investigators are right, we are in front of a cheaper, easier and probably more secure system than quantum cryptography.
The method was developed by Dr. Laszlo Kish of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M. Abstract and full document are here.
Maybe we can sleep again without worry of control by governs and great corporations.David against Goliath again?
